Run to the Sun

Hale_header_paintpot_anne1

We wish all participating in the Run to the Sun this Saturday the best of luck and a very safe trip!

If you are not familiar with the race, here is a description from the home page of the Valley Isle Road Runners:

"A 36-mile ultra marathon starting at sea level and climing to the 10,023 ft. summit of Haleakala, legendary 'Home of the Sun'. This challenging course is not for the novice marathoner. Entrants must be 18 years or older and rigorously prepared to to meet the challenge of the strict 10-hour time limit."

Most of us will be curling up to our first cup of coffee while these brave runners are viewing the splender of morning's rays on the mountain. Best of luck to all HURT participants!

The Tenacity of an Endurance Runner

Advertiser Feature on Paul Sibley

Sometimes you know someone is good because they post great times at tough events and keep on doing so year in, year out. They don't boast about it; rather, they are most motivated by the next big challenge on their agressive running calendar. And sometimes they complete the unthinkable, like finishing the 2007 HURT 100 after enduring several months of cancer treatment and therapy.

Such are the ways of Kailua resident and endurance runner Paul Sibley. Fleet Feet would like to recognize Paul for his commitment to health, family and running.

The Advertiser featured Paul in the Sunday paper. To learn more about Paul's focus on all things health, go to "Race of his life" for an inspiring read.
