Sunday Run - Meet at store at 7:00 a.m. for 7.5 miler

We're finding that many are readying themselves for the Hibiscus Half Marathon in mid-June, hosted by the Leukemia Society and local Team in Training management.

This week we're posting a 7.5 mile option. The Redpaths are on the mainland; however, store friend and coach Julie Phillips will be at the store at 7 a.m. to open up and review the course, etc.  Runners' water options will include Kailua H.S., the skate park, and McD in Enchanted Lake.

Next week we'll start posting longer options, while posting shorter options for those who want the workout but need to get back home for church, etc.

Hilo Marathon, Sunday March 22

Do you know Jason Florimonte, M.D.? He is an extraordinary marathoner who usually finishes in the top ten in area marathons. At Hilo, he was the overall winner with a great time of 2:50:21. Congratulations Jason.

Store regular Alex Eiler was 2nd overall on a gorgeous Sunday in Lani Kai and team member Rachel Ross was 2nd overall among women. Store friend Bre Millard was 1st military finisher and 5th overall among women.

3D 10K Run at KMCB Hawaii - Saturday, April 18

The results from Saturday's run are up but not entirely accessible. But good store friend Scott Hubbard was 3rd overall with a strong sub 40 run. Lots of families came out to enjoy the keiki run as well!

It is not too late to participate in the rest of the MCCS Hawaii Commanding Officers' Fitness Series events! MCCS will recognize division winners for the series at the end of the year. Come out and support these events; you may bookmark the series at Commanding Officers' Fitness Series

Sunday Run, April 19, 6:30 a.m. start!

In light of the annual Lani Kai Triathon taking place Sunday morning at the Beach Park and throughout the immediate area, we're going to start earlier than in past Sundays and hope to see and root on some of our store friends at the race finish!

We've mapped out a 7 mile run and will suggest longer options for those needing it.

We going to run the marsh over to the Saddle road, down into the Kaimalino neighborhood and out, and back by way of Kalaheo. We'll see triathletes in their cycle leg coming and going on Kalaheo Road. Some of us will head over to Kailua Beach Park afterward to acknowledge finishers.

If you want to get more miles in, we'll suggest a Kailua H.S. loop from the store and back home, to add 3 miles. We can talk about these options Sunday a.m. We prefer not to suggest options that get in  the way of the race particpants that morning.

Easter Sunday Run, 9 miler with 7-ish miler option!

       

                                       

If you are looking for a good run before family or church activities on Easter Sunday, join us at 7:00 a.m. at the store on Sunday for a 9 mile run with a 7.5 mile option!

Here's a link. Note that this is a repeat of last weekend's run, but instead of leaving from the beach park, we'll leave from the store. Those needing to shave miles will want to skip the Old Kalanianeole Highway stretch of this run.

Yes, Sunday Easter Run Happening, 7 a.m. from store

We are running on Easter Day, yes! We'll leave the store at 7:00 a.m. and have everyone back to their homes by 9:00 a.m. for an special events involved!

Those of us not already obliged to an immediate activity will get coffee at Kalapawai Cafe afterward!

The run will be a repeat of last Sunday's run (we had one lone runner show while we were away) and we'll post any modifications  - e.g. from the store instead of from the beach park, within the day, on this site.)

We apologize for any inconvenience while our phones were down!

Remember the rotary phone? Maybe not! Well, we felt like we were dealing in the rotary dial age when addressing a problem with our phone service this week.

We were without service Monday and much of Tuesday and if you were affected by it, we apologize greatly.

We felt "stuck" as we had to work with the phone company representatives and no one cared as much as we did that our lines were down.

In any event, we share this to apologize to any impacted by the down time involved. We're up and running and happy to help any and all!

Sunday Run, April 5 - Meet at Kailua Beach Park at 7 a.m.

The Sunday group will meet at Kailua Beach Park this week at 7 a.m. for a 9 mile run with a 7.5 mile option. 

The Redpaths are off island, so look for other regular Sunday runners at the Kailua Beach Park across from Buzz's Restaurant.

The run will involve heading over to Enchanted Lake loop from the park, up to Kalanianeole Highway by way of Keolu Drive and over to the old highway for some undulating hills.

From there, runners will head over to Pali Road and return to the beach park. If you want to shave miles, skip the old highway once you get to the top of Keolu Drive and turn right instead, returning to the Pali a bit sooner.

Bring water, though there will be water support by way of Scott Hubbard at the end of the run.
